Newcastle is poised for a major breakthrough, but they must continue playing like it’s the final until the end!

Beating Manchester United is a massive accomplishment for Newcastle, and credit must be given to Eddie Howe and his team.

Many people, after witnessing the Red Devils’ poor start to the Premier League season, would expect Newcastle’s victory at Old Trafford.

At the moment, Newcastle is the superior team compared to Manchester United. They are more cohesive and in excellent form, which was showcased with their fantastic result.

However, very few actually anticipated that Newcastle would go to Old Trafford just three days after a 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the derby and secure such a comfortable qualification. In such cases, the bigger team usually reacts strongly.

Yet, that moment never came for Erik Ten Hag’s side, who lost two consecutive games at home by three goals for the first time in the 21st century. Additionally, in the first 11 games played at Old Trafford, they have trailed by more than 50% (six times).

Let’s focus on Newcastle’s accomplishment. It was the first time in their history that they led 3-0 at Old Trafford. They were serious, determined, and believed in their abilities, dominating the game from start to finish.

Almiron opened the scoring, Hall netted his first goal for Newcastle, and Joe Willock perfectly capped off a magnificent performance, leaving the crowd impressed with Eddie Howe’s team.

Newcastle has achieved something unique in the 21st century League Cup: eliminating both Manchester teams in the same competition without conceding a single goal.

The last time something similar occurred was when Nottingham Forest won the trophy, defeating both Manchester United and Manchester City. However, they were eventually eliminated by Liverpool in double-headers, losing 2-1 at Anfield in February 1978.

Newcastle, on the other hand, can believe that they won’t suffer the same fate as Arsenal. They are steadily making their mark in the Premier League and Europe, learning from their results. The defeat against Borussia Dortmund did not affect them negatively, as their performance was good, and they secured a significant victory that allows them to dream.

Last year, they came close to winning their first title since 1969. This year, they had an unofficial rematch against United in the League Cup and knocked them out. However, they still face a major challenge ahead as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

If they can overcome that obstacle, they will have a strong chance of winning the competition, with Liverpool, who will likely eliminate West Ham at Anfield, being the only opponent that could pose a threat. Realistically, though, Newcastle is back.

They manage all kinds of situations perfectly and demonstrate consistency, seriousness, and determination. In the end, who knows what they can achieve?
