Being out of action for a year was a long time for Rafael Nadal. The Spanish tennis player seems ready to make his big comeback after the surgery on his hip to overcome the problem he faced.
Rafa openly spoke in his message on social media, addressing his fears and what he can expect from himself after such a long absence from the court.
Rafael Nadal’s message:
“I have a fear of making announcements because I have been without a match for a year and had surgery on my hip. However, what worries me the most is not the hip, it’s something else.
I feel ready, I have confidence, and I hope that things will go well and that I will have the opportunity to enjoy it on the court. It’s been a long time, so first of all, I hope to feel the anxiety, the anticipation, the fear, and the doubts again.
What I want from myself is not to expect anything, that’s the truth. To have the ability not to have expectations from myself, the expectations I had throughout my career. I am in a different situation now, I am in uncharted territory.
I have internalized everything I have been through in my life, which is to demand the maximum from myself. Now, what I really hope for is to be able not to do that, to accept that things will be very difficult at the beginning. To give myself the necessary time and to forgive myself if things don’t go well, which is very likely to happen. To know that if I maintain this hope, the hard work, and if my body responds to it, things can change in the not so distant future.”
