Jalin Turner assures us that Khamzat Chimaev is as good as advertised.
Turner (13-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) will face Dan Hooker (22-12 MMA, 12-8 UFC) this Saturday at UFC 290 in Las Vegas.
In the past, he trained with Chechen fighter Chimaev for the first time in Dubai.
In recent statements, he revealed:
“It was crazy. Chimaev is as good as they advertise him. I learned a lot from this guy, both in grappling and striking. Strong fighter, both on his feet and on the ground. I was truly amazed. He’s the real deal.”
We had intense sparring sessions. I truly wished I was a weight class above to be able to handle his pressure better. He constantly went for takedowns, constantly threw punches in bunches. I had no time to think about my moves.
I thought, is he a dog? It was wild and fun at the same time.
I’ve never been pushed like this in a gym in years. But he did it. He’s strong. Incredible cardio, never stopped.
His physical condition is incomparable. I really want to train with him even more in the future.”
